An Overview of New Trends in Smart Home and Video Surveillance System Design

المجلة: Generis Publishing

سنة النشر: 2021

تاريخ النشر: 2021-10-18

The smart home had been a new dimension that offered comfort, lifestyle, remote control devices, task automation, access control systems, surveillance systems, and management systems. Moreover, the benefits of new networking technologies along with digital imaging and camera intelligence, are making video surveillance and remote control more efficient than ever before. This manuscript presents an overview of new trends in smart home-related technologies like IoT, communicaton protocols, intelligent devices, Cloud, Fog and Edge Computing, video surveillance, and video management systems. However, the growth of a smart home system along with video surveillance in an IoT infrastructure requires dealing with issues such as security, flexibility and scalability. Therefore, this manuscript proposes an overview of new trends in smart homes, IoT and video surveillance, as well as a Microservices Architecture in an Edge Computing Environment. This makes smart home systems more flexible, more scalable, and even more secure. Users may reuse existing resources and adding automation and intelligence to increase comfort and quality of life along with more privacy and confidentiality.

Human-Swarm Interactions: A Bibliometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace

المجلة: 2022 First International Conference on Big Data, IoT, Web Intelligence and Applications (BIWA)

Human-robot interaction has been a major focus of research over the past decade. However, the appearance of the swarm robotics brought a different topic for study. Human swarm interaction (HSI), a blend of biology, robotics, computer science, and psychology, is a field that investigates how humans interact with a swarm of robots. Furthermore, there is a noticeable need for relevant studies using bibliometric analyses in the HIS field to assess trends and growth of research. The purpose of this paper is to explore and have a better grasp of the HSI issue by analysing 402 relevant works selected from the Scopus database between 2002 and 2022. Exploring CiteSpace’s network visualisations such as co-authorship, nations, references, and keywords maps as well as the keyword clustering related to the topic, which are classified into Basic situation analysis, knowledge-base analysis, and topic evolution analysis, impacts the HSI study field in the specific period.

A Survey of Research Progress and Emerging Trends in Human-Swarm Interactions

Human-swarm interaction (HSI), is a branch of human-computer interaction (HCI) that focuses on the communication, the interaction and the collaboration between human and swarm of robots. Despite the increasing interest and rapid advancement of swarm robotics, however there is a lack of bibliometric analysis of HSI to identify research priorities and trends. This work addresses this gap via conducting a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 602 papers related to HSI collected from the Scopus database between 2003 and 2023. With the help of CiteSpace software, we are able to elaborate scientific knowledge maps and related visual analyses that are categorised into three primary analyses cores: A basic situation analysis, a knowledge-base analysis, and a topic evolution analysis. The analyses cores include, in particular, collaboration networks of countries, institutes, and co-authorship, the authors, keywords and references co-occurrence map. In addition to timeline analysis of the author keywords and keywords clustering. The results of this analysis provide insights into the current research trends and aspects of HSI, as well as guide researchers in identifying research gaps, challenges, future advancements, and research directions in the field. It aims to guide researchers in taking the right entry point and conducting in-depth research to inspire further future works.
