In order to investigate the effect of lithovit nitrogen (L.N.) and lithovit boron (L.B.) concentrations (500, 600, 750 and 900 g/fed.) and humic acid (H.A.) concentrations (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 kg/fed.) on the vegetative growth of Gladiolus grandiflorus L. CV. "White Prosperity" plant comparing with chemical fertilization recommended dose (R.D.). Two field experiments were done in College of Agriculture farm, Al-Azhar University, Sadat City, Al-Monoufia Governorate, Egypt during two sequent seasons of 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. The obtained results demonstrated that, the maximum values of leaf number, plant height and length of leaf were detected when the plants were treated with the highest concentration of lithovit nitrogen (L.N.) and humic acid compared to the other treatments under study. Therefore, it could be recommended that, the use of lithovit concentration (900 g/fed.) and humic acid concentration (2.5 kg/fed.) enhanced the vegetative growth improvement of gladiolus plant.

Influence of Seaweed Extract (Kelpak) on Flowering in Pelargonium Zonale L. Var ‘Serena’ Plant

This investigation was car ried out in the experimental farm of Horticultural Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Al-Azhar university, Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt, during the subsequent seasons (2014/2015 and 2015/2016) to study the influence of applying four different levels of seaweed extract (Kelpak) at rates 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 ml/l on flowering in Pelargonium zonale L. Var ‘Serena’ plant comparing with chemical fertilization recommended dose (R.D.) on geranium plant at concentration 3.0 g/100 ml of water applied plant once monthly adding to the soil. Control plants which were sprayed with tap water. The results showed that the highest concentration of Kelpak 4.0 ml/l gave the highest values in measurements of flowering (flowering start, number of flowers and flowering period) compared with chemical fertilization and control treatments followed by Kelpak 3.0 ml/l. From results, we recommend the use of Kelpak 4.0 ml/l as a substitute for chemical fertilizer to obtain higher quality of flowering characteristics of P. zonale L. plant, and to reduce production costs and also reduce the environmental pollution caused by chemical fertilizers
