EFFECT OF AQUEOUS EXTRACT OF TRITICUM AESTIVUM AND ALOE VERA ON SOME BLOOD TRAITS IN LOCAL FEMALE RABBITS

المجلة: Anbar Journal of Agricultural Sciences

سنة النشر: 2023

تاريخ النشر: 2023-12-18

This experiment was conducted in the animal field of the Department of General Sciences in the College of Basic Education/Haditha for the period 3/13/2022 to 04/28/2022 and this experiment continued (45 days), the aim of studying the effect of aqueous extract of wheatgrass and aloe vera on some blood traits in local female rabbits. 12 local female rabbits were used in this experiment, with an average weight of (750 g), and it was divided into three groups (in each group 4 rabbits), the control group, the wheatgrass group, 0.2 ml/Oral dosing, and the olivera group 0.2 ml/Oral dosing. The results showed that the second and third groups were superior in the number of neutrophilic white blood cells compared to the control group and the superiority of the Olivera group in the number of lymphoid white blood cells compared to the control group, there was an effect of adding aloe vera extract and wheatgrass when compared with the control group in the average red blood cell volume with a significant percentage of (P<0.05), and aloe vera extract had the largest percentage in the rise of MCV, and there was also an effect of adding aloe vera and wheatgrass extract on lowering the rate of hemoglobin concentration Erythrocyte MCHC in a significant percentage (P<0.05), there was a significant effect of (P<0.05) when adding aqueous extract of wheatgrass and aloe vera in cholesterol, with the superiority of aloe vera powder over wheatgrass powder in increasing this percentage, there was an effect of adding aqueous extract of wheatgrass and aloe vera on lowering protein and albumin, where the second and third groups decreased with a significant value of (P < 0.05) when compared with the control group. The results also showed a decrease in the level of glucose and urea for the wheatgrass group compared to the control group. We conclude from the current study that there is an effect of the aqueous extracts used on some blood traits and not on other studied traits. © Authors, 2023, College of Agriculture, University of Anbar.

Antiproliferative and antimicrobial studies of novel organic-inorganic nanohybrids of ethyl 2-((5-methoxy-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)thio)acetate (EMBIA) with TiO2 and ZnO

Ethyl-2-((5-methoxy-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)thio)acetate (EMBIA) was synthesized by the reaction of ethylchloroacetate and 5-methoxy-2-mercaptobenzamidazole in the presence of potassium hydroxide. EMBIA was used to produce novel organic: inorganic nanohybrids with newly synthesized ZnO and TiO2 nanostructures and fully characterized using FTIR, SEM, EDX, XRD and TEM. Furthermore, the synthesized nanohybrids were used to check their antibacterial and antifungal activities against some normal and antibiotic resistance bacteria (E. faecalis VRE, E. faecalis, S. aureus, S. aureus MSSA, S. aureus MRSA, E. coli, E. coli ESBL, P. aeruginosa AGME, S. mutans, S. gordonii, A. actinomycetemcomitans) and fungi (C. albicans). Furthermore, these nanohybrids were used to check their anticancer activity against brain cancer cell lines, gynaecological cancer cell lines, colon cancer cell lines, in addition to lung, retinal, and skin normal cells were used to check the toxicity. The value of total growth inhibition (TGI) was 43.27 and 79.01 µg/ml for EMBIA and EMBIA-TiO2, while it was 4.29 µg/ml for the EMBIA-ZnO against normal cell lines. The TGI values against cancer cell lines of EMBIA and EMBIA-TiO2 were better than those reported for the reference compound 5-fluorouracil (5FU). © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

Effect of Adding Vitamin C and E on the Biochemical Characteristics of Local Iraqi Lambs

المجلة: Indian Veterinary Journal

سنة النشر: 2022

تاريخ النشر: 2022-08-09

An experiment was carried out in a special field in Haditha district, of Iraq in which 12 local Iraqi lambs aged 5-6 months were used with an average weight of 17 kg. The lambs were divided into three groups of 4 lambs each. The groups were: T1-control group, T2- group dosed with 40 mg of Vitamin C and T3-group dosed with 160 mg of Vitamin E. All lambs were fed with 1 kg of barley per day during the experiment period. At the end of the experiment which lasted for 45 days, blood samples from lambs were tested for measuring glucose, total protein, albumin, triglycerides, cholesterol and liver enzymes SGPT and SGOT. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the concentration of SGOT and SGPT enzymes between treatments and the interaction between the time period and the treatments along the study length.Though the results showed no significant difference in triglycerides, a significant (P ≥ 0.05) difference was observed in cholesterol between the vitamin C group and the vitamin E group. The results indicated that there is a significant difference (P≤ 0.05) in the concentration of total protein, while no significant change was observed in the proportion of albumin and alkaline phosphate concentration.

Effects of Using L-arginine on Production and Physiological Performance of Rabbits

المجلة: IOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science

سنة النشر: 2021

تاريخ النشر: 2021-01-04

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects use L-arginine on production and physiological performance of rabbits. Twelve local male rabbits aged 2-3 months with an average weight of 1 kg ± 0.2 have been used in this experiment that lasted for 60 days and was divided into three groups (each group consists of 4 rabbits) a control group was injected with NaCl solution of 1 ml (Normal Saline) into the animal's muscle, a second group given the arginine was injected intramuscularly at an amount of 150 µmol / kg and a third group was drenched 150 µmol / kg of the arginine. The results have shown no significant differences in the amount of feed intake among groups. There was an effect of L-arginine injection in improving the final weight of the animals, the second and third group significantly increased in final body weight (P<0.05) compared to the control group, no significant differences between the experimental groups in feed efficiency. The results showed first and second groups were increased in the white blood cell (W.B.C) concentration compared with the third group. No significant differences between the experimental groups in the red blood cell (R.B.C) hemoglobin (Hb), cholesterol, glucose and globulin concentration. The results were significant observed (P <0.05) in the total protein level of the third group compared to the control and second group, significant observed (P <0.05) for the albumin concentration of the control and third groups compared to the second group, and the results showed a significant effect (P <0.05) in the level of testosterone hormone and growth hormone for the second group compared to the control. The results indicated a significant observed (P <0.05) for the level of the testosterone hormone in the third group when compared with the control group with no differences between the three groups in the characteristics of the carcasses, treatment with L-arginine improved the final weight of rabbits as well as an increase in the level testosterone and growth hormone, no effect of the arginine on the blood characteristics and some of the carcass characteristics Except for the differences found in total protein and albumin concentration between experimental groups.
