Objective: In this research paper, we examine how treating patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes with vitamin B12 and magnesium affects both insulin and non-insulin levels. The Glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) marker, which is one of the fundamental and clinical markers to monitor in the control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients (T2DM and type 1 diabetic mellitus), is also highlighted and discussed in this study. Methods: From February to March 2023, a cross-sectional study was done at the Medical Labs Research Center of Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital in Nasiriyah Governorate. Our research included 40 people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Before fasting, a physical examination, a thorough medical history, and blood samples were obtained. Following a 12-hour fast, all blood samples were collected. Results: Except for the B12 and Mg++ levels being significantly higher in DM1 patients in both the first and second age groups and the third age group of DM1 patients being significantly lower at p. value 0.05, we conclude from this study's two-way ANOVA test and t-test that cumulative sugar is unaffected by age or type of sugar. Conclusions: Our findings indicate that both concentrations of B12 and Mg++ increased significantly in patients with DM1 than DM2 at p. value < 0.05. These findings call for more research on a wider population to look at the source of the deficit and the effectiveness of B12 supplementation in these patients.

There are numerous biochemical markers that are either directly or indirectly related to the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which is characterized by both local and systemic effects of inflammation. By assessing the level of vitamin D in the serum of patients with recurrent arthritis, we conclude from this study that vitamin D is one of the vitamins that contribute to the emergence of the process of recurrent arthritis. The markers of disease activity such as erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and rheumatoid factor (RF) were also measured. The study included (60) patients with rheumatoid arthritis of both sexes, with the number of females (22) ranging in age from (31-70) years and the number of males (18) ranging in age from (31-70) years. They were also compared to a control group of (20) healthy men and women, divided into ten (10) males and ten (10) females. For both sexes, their ages ranged from (31-70) years. According to the study's findings, there are significant differences (p<0.05) between the vitamin D3, RF, and ESR groups. The mean levels of ESR and RF were highest in patients(84.05±33.79 and 17.35±5.08) than healthy (38.62±15.53 and 10.55±3.22) respectively. In contrast, the mean levels of vitamin D3 was lowest in patients (21.00±9.68) than healthy (32.40±13.45). The conducted study showed there is no significant difference (p>0.05) between ESR and RF among age groups of patients, but we found there is significant different between vitamin D3 among groups, where >70 and 41-50 years scored highest mean (31.37±9.80 and 23.96±8.82), while 31-40 and 61-70 years scored lowest mean (14.25±6.22 and 13.20±5.39) respectively. We conclude all these The majority of people with rheumatoid arthritis have a vitamin D deficiency, which is one of the factors that contributes to the severity of the disease, according to the research and current study's findings. Vitamin D deficiency in rheumatoid arthritis patients is caused by a lack of vitamin D intake from food sources, insufficient sun exposure, a disorder that impairs vitamin D absorption, and other factors.

Objectives: Diabetes is a major public health issue that has a significant negative impact on both communities and people. The best treatment for diabetes is metformin, which has the advantage of lowering death rates from all causes, cancer risk, and macrovascular diseases. Despite the fact that metformin is often used and extensively researched, there have only been a small number of randomized controlled studies to examine its effects on folate. In addition, it is yet unclear if short-term medication contributes to vitamin insufficiency. We hypothesize that even a brief period of metformin therapy causes folate levels to drop. However, given that metformin affects vitamins in people with type 2 diabetes, adding folate to the diet may be beneficial. Methods: 30 people with type 2 diabetes were investigated. physical examination, thorough medical history, and fasting blood samples. After a 12-hour fast, all blood samples were taken. Results: Our results showed that there is a direct effect of metformin on the deficiency of folic acid, as the level of folic acid decreased in the group of patients compared to the control group and it was significant . There is also an inverse relationship between folic acid and glucose in the group of patients. Conclusions: Metformin lowers folic acid levels in people with type 2 diabetes. Investigations are still being done on the therapeutic relevance of these results.

References (178) Abstract Background Renal ischemia-reperfusion injury (RIRI) is a critical phenomenon that compromises renal function and is the most serious health concern related to acute kidney injury (AKI). Pioglitazone (Pio) is a known agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-γ). PPAR-γ is a nuclear receptor that regulates genes involved in inflammation, metabolism, and cellular differentiation. Activation of PPAR-γ is associated with antiinflammatory and antioxidant effects, which are relevant to the pathophysiology of RIRI. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of Pio in RIRI, focusing on oxidative stress and inflammation. Methods We conducted a comprehensive literature search using electronic databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Results The results of this study demonstrated that Pio has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic activities that counteract the consequences of RIRI. The study also discussed the underlying mechanisms, including the modulation of various pathways such as TNF-α, NF-κB signaling systems, STAT3 pathway, KIM-1 and NGAL pathways, AMPK phosphorylation, and autophagy flux. Additionally, the study presented a summary of various animal studies that support the potential protective effects of Pio in RIRI. Conclusion Our findings suggest that Pio could protect the kidneys from RIRI by improving antioxidant capacity and decreasing inflammation. Therefore, these findings support the potential of Pio as a therapeutic strategy for preventing RIRI in different clinical conditions.

Abstract Diabetes mellitus is a pancreatic endocrine condition brought on by insufficient insulin synthesis and/or resistance to the hormone's effects. Its endocrine and exocrine parts are closely related anatomically and functionally, both directly and indirectly. Thus, we are investigating the role of serum amylase in Type 2 Diabetes (DM). The study's goals are to determine the serum amylase levels in type-2 diabetes mellitus patients and to establish a correlation between those patients' serum amylase levels and HbA1c levels. Studying serum amylase levels in people with type-2 diabetes mellitus and establishing a correlation between serum amylase levels and HbA1c levels in these patients are the goals and objectives.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common and highly metastatic cancer affecting people worldwide. Drug resistance and unwanted side effects are some of the limitations of current treatments for CRC. Naringenin (NAR) is a naturally occurring compound found in abundance in various citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruits, and tomatoes. It possesses a diverse range of pharmacological and biological properties that are beneficial for human health. Numerous studies have highlighted its antioxidant, anti-cancer, and anti-inflammatory activities, making it a subject of interest in scientific research. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the effects of NAR on CRC. The study’s findings indicated that NAR: 1) interacts with estrogen receptors, 2) regulates the expression of genes related to the p53 signaling pathway, 3) promotes apoptosis by increasing the expression of proapoptotic genes (Bax, caspase9, and p53) and downregulation of the antiapoptotic gene Bcl2, 4) inhibits the activity of enzymes involved in cell survival and proliferation, 5) decreases cyclin D1 levels, 6) reduces the expression of cyclin-dependent kinases (Cdk4, Cdk6, Cdk7) and anti-apoptotic genes (Bcl2, x-IAP, c-IAP-2) in CRC cells. In vitro CDK2 binding assay was also performed, showing that the NAR derivatives had better inhibitory activities on CDK2 than NAR. Based on the findings of this study, NAR is a potential therapeutic agent for CRC. Additional pharmacology and pharmacokinetics studies are required to fully elucidate the mechanisms of action of NAR and establish the most suitable dose for subsequent clinical investigations.

This study was designed to assess rate of detection and prevalence of HPV in cervical carcinoma hysterectomized patients through both immunohistological and chromogenic in-situ hybridization techniques and to identify and to differentiate histopathologically the high risk genotype of HPV (16, 18 ) from low risk genotype ( 6,11 ). Most investigative works have pointed the virus as an oncogenic agent which implicates as promoter of cervical cancer . There are more than 200 subtypes of HPV ,including low risk types and high risk types (8) . As the size of the problem and the incidence of HPV infection in Iraq are still underestimated, this work is an attempt to explore their influence and participation in the pathogenesis of cervical carcinoma in middle of Iraq.
